The most frequently accessed data is more valuable for the company (hot data).  Thus, new data is stored on high-performance storage devices which are more expensive. In time, the level of importance of data decreases and it is less accessed and it is moved on a cost-efficient storage nearline repository where data is remaining accessible for read-only purposes.

Which means that – when archiving cold data with NLS – you can save up to 40% of your DB storage. This represents a prominent cost reduction as well. The benefits are clear and measurable. NLS solution removes less frequent data from the online DB and compresses it by 90%, reducing storage costs but also keeping and increasing the performance.
